* 1992- Owner, Looker Communications Consulting Company, Modesto, CA. Specializing in communications consulting for agricultural trade associations. Clients include the Almond Board of California, a federal marketing order for the $1 billion almond industry; and Western United Dairymen, a trade association representing more than 60% of the state's milk production. .
Responsibilities for these clients include monitoring of state and federal legislative and regulatory items of interest to farmers for dissemination of timely information to target audiences. Services include daily publication of California Dairy Industry Headline News as well as production of the California Legislative Report for the Almond Board of California. Other services include management of the Environmental Stewardship Program for the Almond Board of California which promotes the environmental practices of California almond growers. This program encompasses a Public Relations campaign aimed at informing growers, government regulators and the public about the environmental challenges facing almond growers. A sampling of these environmental stewardship newsletter articles and press releases is available. My skill set includes providing strategic counsel in the area of public relations, generating story ideas, writing stories, editing, headline writing, layout and design utilizing desk top publishing software. Other skills include providing content for websites as well as effective use of social media tools such as Twitter and Facebook to communicate with appropriate audiences.

Responsibilities included serving as advisor to students who produced the student newspaper in a classroom/laboratory setting. Classroom teaching assignments included basic news writing and introduction to mass communications. Served on the President's Mass Communications Advisory Committee which helped develop course offerings under newly created Mass Communications Program.

Supervised the Senators field operation. Responsible for representing Senator on various legislative issues, meeting with constituents and other elected officials, appearing before various public groups, attending public meetings, acting as official liaison and spokesperson with the media and overseeing the campaign operation.

Managed campaign office for Congressman, House Majority Whip. Developed direct mail fundraising program and coordinated schedule of fundraising events. Implemented communication programs with key constituent groups through newsletters, press releases, direct targeted mailings and select meetings. Oversaw development of custom designed data base management system which was developed into commercial software package "Politrac."
