Social media training opportunities coming up
Oct. 15, 2010 - - There are two upcoming opportunities for dairy producers
interested in learning how they can add their voice to the national dialogue on
farming through the use of social media tools. A workshop titled “New Media:
Making Marketing Personal,” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday,
November 20, at UC Davis, Wellman Hall. Sponsored by the California Agricultural
Leadership Foundation, the workshop will investigate the possibilities and
challenges of different types of new media, provide examples of successful
efforts, delve into new terminology and introduce a primer on how to begin using
social media. Afternoon breakout sessions will feature speakers who will help
participants learn how to tell their stories, develop concise messages, and
expand their vision of ways that technology can be used to market agriculture
and its products. There is a $50 registration fee. Further information is
available at

The KnowACaliforniaFarmer.org folks will hold a full-day social media workshop
in Fresno on December 7 at a location yet to be determined. This will be the
first of a series of hands-on social media workshops designed specifically for
farmers. These sessions will show how to generate thoughtful content around the
issues, review how to capture and post content to the KACF.com website, and they
will demonstrate how to develop social networks to push content out to
California consumers. For additional information, contact Cory Lunde at
