What: “Getting Barefoot: Delivering a Different Kind of Gallo Wine Experience” For the E&J Gallo Winery, building the Barefoot Wine and Bubbly brand means creating a whole new kind of experience. The challenge, says Stephanie Gallo, is that for the last 80 years wine has been marketed and promoted as an elitist beverage. The solution is to position wine as fun and flavorful and delivering on the promise by providing consumers with a new type of wine experience. Stephanie will talk in-depth about the approach the company took to build the number-one selling wine brand in the United States.

Our Speaker: Stephanie A. Gallo is Vice President of Marketing for E. & J. Gallo Winery of Modesto, California. The winery, co-founded by her grandfather Ernest and great uncle Julio 80 years ago, is the largest family-owned winery in the world, exporting wine and spirits to 90 countries. Stephanie leads the company in its worldwide marketing efforts for several prominent brands, including Barefoot and Gallo Family Vineyards. 

Stephanie’s key contributions to the business have included paving the way for Barefoot to become the #1 selling wine in the U.S., repositioning the Gallo Family Vineyards brand globally, and pioneering the winery’s cause marketing and digital marketing initiatives.  The brands she manages are consistently recognized for outstanding success, including Beverage Information Group’s Fast Track Growth Brand Award and Market Watch Magazine’s Hot Brand Award.   In honor of this success, Stephanie was named one of the Top Women in Grocery by Progressive Grocer Magazine in 2011. 

In 1994, Stephanie earned her bachelor’s degree in government from the University of Notre Dame. She then obtained an MBA from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.  She served Notre Dame as a Young Graduate Trustee from 1996 to 1999 and as a member of the Advisory Council for the university’s Mendoza College of Business from 1999 to 2002.   Today, Stephanie is a member of the university’s Board of Trustees.  

Stephanie is involved in her community as a regular speaker on women in business, family business and the importance of community giving.  She lives in her hometown of Modesto with her husband Chris Tyler and their two children.
