Dormant Spray Field Day set for almond growers

(Modesto, CA) - - Central San Joaquin Valley almond growers are invited to attend a Dec. 11 field

day on dormant spray practices to learn more about using alternative practices to control key pests.

The field day is co-sponsored by the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) and the Almond Pest Management Alliance (PMA.) The PMA is a cooperative project funded by the state Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) to study a reduced risk system of almond production through use of alternative products and practices, on-site demonstrations and grower education.

The field day features:

The session begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Stanislaus County Ag Center, 3800 Cornucopia Way, Modesto. Lunch will be served. Reservations can be made to the UCCE office at (209) 525-6800.

The Almond Pest Management Alliance is funded by a $99,000 grant from the state Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR..) The Alliance is comprised of three demonstration projects located in Butte, Stanislaus and Kern counties. Alliance partners include: the Almond Board of California, the Almond Hullers and Processors Association, the UC Statewide IPM Project, and the Community Alliance with Family Farmers.
